Teachers from various schools staged a protest march in Kolkata on Saturday, calling for exemplary punishment for those responsible for the rape and murder of the doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The teachers, walking under the banner 'Teachers for RG Kar' from Sealdah station to Shyambazar near the state-run hospital, chanted slogans such as 'we want justice' and 'justice for RG Kar'.
They demanded that the accused be punished promptly and called for women's security at workplaces to be ensured. They also stated that anyone found guilty of shielding the culprits should face exemplary punishment.
This marks the second rally organized by teachers protesting the heinous crime, which saw the body of the postgraduate trainee doctor discovered at the hospital on August 9.
