Shahdol Incident: 17-Year-Old Dalit Boy Assaulted, Forced to Perform Humiliating Acts

Five individuals, including three minors, face legal action for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old Dalit boy in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. According to local police, the victim was forced to perform humiliating acts, such as squatting and holding his earlobes in a position known locally as 'murgha banana' and cawing like a crow.
The incident, which occurred over an old dispute on August 25, was recorded and the clips were uploaded on social media. The Shahdol police identified the victim through these videos. Inspector Raghavendra Tiwari of the Kotwali police station stated that the suspects were known to the victim and took him to a secluded area to humiliate him.
The accused have been prosecuted under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Law enforcement continues their efforts to apprehend the suspects.
