Authorities executed a demolition drive on Friday in southeast Delhi's Okhla Phase-2 JJ cluster, securing the area with heavy police presence, officials confirmed.

Residents, many of whom have lived in the cluster for decades, reported receiving a mere two-day notice, leaving them insufficient time to salvage their possessions. 'They arrived around 10 am with bulldozers and offered us no opportunity to retrieve our belongings,' resident Dheeraj lamented as around 50 shanties were razed.

'We've been here for 40 years and have nowhere else to go,' echoed Anil Kumar, another resident. The police assured that adequate security was deployed to maintain order during the operation, which is still ongoing.
