Bengaluru Prison Scandal: Special Treatment for Actor Sparks Uproar
The Bengaluru Police are investigating the Parappana Agrahara Central prison after reports of special treatment given to inmates like actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. The Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, announced an investigation into the activities at Parappana Agrahara Central prison after revelations of 'special treatment' for inmates, including actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, emerged.
A viral photograph showing Darshan in a relaxed mood at the jail, coupled with a video of him making a video call, has led to an uproar on social media. In response, three FIRs have been registered, two against inmates and one against prison officials. An Assistant Commissioner of Police and inspector rank officials are leading the investigation.
Court permission has been granted for the ongoing probe, supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sarah Fathima. Nine officials, including the chief superintendent of the jail, have been suspended. Darshan has been moved to Ballari jail amid tight security, and his judicial custody has been extended till September 9.
