Delhi High Court Rejects AAP Councillors' Pleas to Reschedule MCD Ward Committee Elections

They argued insufficient time was given to file nominations. The court maintained it couldn't dictate the election schedule, which is the MCD commissioner's prerogative.

Two AAP councillors withdrew their pleas from the Delhi High Court on Friday after it became clear the court was not inclined to reschedule the MCD ward committee elections.
The councillors had argued that the timeline to file nominations for the positions of chairman, deputy chairman, and members was too short.
Justice Purushaindra Kaurav stated that the court cannot intervene in the MCD commissioner's election scheduling. He emphasized that the councillors should have directly communicated with the corporation instead of approaching the court.
