Israeli Military 'Communication Error' Leads to Firing on WFP Vehicle in Gaza
An initial review by Israel revealed shots fired at a World Food Programme (WFP) vehicle in Gaza were due to a 'communication error' between Israeli military units. The WFP has temporarily halted movements in Gaza, urging Israel to address and rectify the issue to prevent future incidents.
Israel has informed the United States that an initial investigation concluded shots were fired at a World Food Programme (WFP) vehicle in Gaza due to a 'communication error' between Israeli military units, according to the U.S. deputy envoy to the United Nations.
'We have urged them to immediately rectify the issues within their system,' Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Robert Wood stated during a U.N. Security Council meeting on Gaza. He emphasized that Israel must take full responsibility for its mistakes and implement measures to prevent the IDF from targeting UN personnel in the future.
The WFP halted the movement of its staff across Gaza after an incident where at least 10 bullets struck one of its vehicles, despite having received multiple clearances from Israeli authorities to approach the Wadi Gaza bridge checkpoint. Thankfully, no one was injured in the attack.
