In a significant move to promote unity in rural areas, the Punjab cabinet on Thursday amended rules for sarpanch and panch elections to be held without political party symbols, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced.
This step aims to reduce political groupism and ensure better utilization of funds and grants for village development.
Additionally, the cabinet approved increasing the Punjab Civil Services cadre and constructing ponds along the river Ghaggar to enhance groundwater recharge.
