Belapur Court Sentences Man for Assaulting Civic Bus Driver
The Belapur sessions court sentenced a 42-year-old man to two years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a civic bus driver on duty nine years ago. The accused had assaulted the bus driver after an accident. The court fined him Rs 7,500 and granted Rs 5,000 as compensation to the driver.

The Belapur sessions court has sentenced a 42-year-old man to two years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a civic bus driver on duty nine years ago. The incident occurred when a Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport bus, driven by Ranjeet Nimbalkar, accidentally brushed against the parked car of Roshan Sitaram Madhavi in the Ghansoli area of Navi Mumbai on September 9, 2015.
Following the minor accident, Madhavi boarded the bus and proceeded to abuse and assault bus driver Nimbalkar, according to additional public prosecutor E B Dhamal. The prosecution presented six witnesses in support of the case.
Additional sessions judge K R Deshpande convicted Madhavi under sections 353 and 332 of the Indian Penal Code for using criminal force and voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from duty. Along with the two-year prison sentence, Madhavi was fined Rs 7,500, with Rs 5,000 allocated as compensation to the victim, Nimbalkar.
