In a recent turn of events, five police officers in Madhya Pradesh have been suspended from field duty. This decisive action follows the release of a video alleging police brutality against a woman and her grandson by Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel in Katni district.

The state Congress shared the video, which shows a woman GRP officer beating a woman and a minor boy with a stick. The victims are reportedly from the Dalit community, adding to the controversy. The incident, which occurred in October 2023, involved questioning the pair about an absconding criminal, police said.

Superintendent of Police Simala Prasad stated that the video went viral, prompting the administration to suspend all officers visible in the footage. Security has been increased in Katni as key political figures plan to visit the victims, heightening the scrutiny surrounding the event.
