Three women Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security personnel in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, a senior police official reported.

The gunfight erupted around 8 am in the Abhujmaad forest, situated on the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts, during an anti-Naxal operation conducted by a joint security team.

The Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG), and Border Security Force (BSF) were part of the operation, which followed intelligence inputs about Naxalite presence in the area.

Authorities recovered the bodies of three women Naxalites in uniform, along with a significant cache of weapons from the site. A search operation is ongoing in the region.

So far, security forces have neutralized 145 Naxalites in various encounters in Chhattisgarh this year.
