The British government announced on Thursday that the nation's agreement to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) will come into effect by December 15 of this year. This milestone follows the final ratification required for the UK's membership.
The CPTPP is a significant free trade agreement finalized in 2018, involving 11 member countries: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam. This agreement aims to bolster economic ties and reduce trade barriers among participating nations.
Britain stands out as the sole European member of the CPTPP and notably is the first new nation to join the partnership since its inception, marking a significant extension of the trade bloc.
