In a chilling case, Shankar Dayal Gupta was arrested for allegedly beheading and dismembering his wife, Neetu Pandey, following a financial argument on July 30. Gupta reportedly used a cleaver and electric saw to dismember her body, disposing of the parts in isolated locations to evade capture, said police.

Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar noted that Gupta disposed of Neetu's head and hands in the Saryu river in Ayodhya, while other body parts were scattered in the bushes near Ajab Nagar village. The arrest came after a detailed investigation involving the examination of approximately 500 missing persons' cases and 300 CCTV cameras.

Kumar detailed that the breakthrough came when footage from a CCTV showed a man carrying a suspicious bag on a motorcycle. This led to tracing Gupta and uncovering the gruesome crime. Tools used in the dismemberment were seized, and Gupta now faces expedited legal proceedings in a fast-track court.
