A homeless man who was run over by a truck while sleeping on a pavement in the Shastri Nagar area died during treatment on Wednesday, increasing the toll in the accident to four, authorities confirmed.

The unfortunate incident, which took place early Monday, resulted in the deaths of three other men on the spot. Kamlesh, aged 36, was receiving treatment at GTB Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His family will receive his body post-mortem.

Two victims have been identified as Mohammad Jakir and Prahlad Prasad, while the third remains unidentified. Another injured, Mushtak, 35, continues to be treated at GTB Hospital. The driver, who fled, remains at large and is being pursued by police. An investigation revealed five pending challans against the truck, with the last issued in December 2022.
