The Danish centrist government announced on Wednesday the formation of three new ministries, including one office dedicated to emergency preparedness.

A dedicated minister for European Union affairs will be appointed ahead of Denmark's rotating EU presidency set for the second half of 2025. Additionally, a new ministry will focus on Denmark's green policy, aiming at a 70 per cent emissions reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2050. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed hope that this green initiative could serve as inspiration on a global scale.

No names were disclosed for the new roles nor any indication of redundancy among the existing 23 ministries. Changes will be officially announced on Thursday upon the new government's formal presentation to King Frederik X. In a concurrent development, Frederiksen nominated current Climate Minister Dan Jørgensen as Denmark's candidate for the European Commission. Jørgensen, a former Social Democratic MEP, must now undergo vetting by the European Parliament.
