The three-day monsoon session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to begin on September 4, announced Speaker Biswabandhu Sen on Wednesday.
In discussions with reporters, Sen mentioned that the session will deliberate on three critical Bills, one of which aims to amend an existing law to extend retirement benefits to MLAs who have served for just one day. He refrained from providing additional details. 'The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) unanimously agreed to hold this three-day session starting September 4. Among the Bills to be discussed is one which proposes amendments to grant retirement benefits to MLAs,' Sen stated.
Furthermore, the opening day will feature a special discussion on the recent devastating floods that have resulted in 31 fatalities and impacted over one lakh residents. 'BAC members stressed the necessity of concentrating on rebuilding efforts following this disaster. This urgency is why the session will be brief, spanning just three days,' explained Sen.
