One person was killed and two are missing after an ice cave in Iceland collapsed on Sunday, according to authorities. The victims were among a 25-member group from various countries exploring the natural cave beneath a glacier when tragedy struck.

Authorities confirmed one death immediately after the incident. Rescue teams launched a strenuous search for the two missing individuals, believed to be trapped under the ice. "It's difficult to get equipment to the area, the rescue missions are therefore mainly done by hand, digging and breaking the ice," stated Sveinn Kristjan Runarsson, chief of police for the Southern region.

One person was injured and taken to a hospital, currently in stable condition. The incident occurred at Breidamerkurjokull in southern Iceland, part of the Vatnajokul glacier, the largest in Western Europe. The nationalities of those involved have not been disclosed.
