Deadly Balochistan Attack Sparks Political Tensions in Pakistan

Recent separatist militant attacks in Balochistan Province, Pakistan, have resulted in over 60 fatalities, officials confirmed on Monday. The region, home to significant China-led projects, has witnessed one of the deadliest insurgent assaults in years, part of a longstanding rebellion seeking secession.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi labeled the attacks a strategic effort to foster anarchy. Security forces reportedly killed 12 militants during retaliatory operations, while confrontations led to the deaths of 14 soldiers and police officers, along with 21 militants. The attacks included targeting passengers and burning 35 vehicles on a major highway.

Rail traffic between Quetta and other regions, as well as Iran, was disrupted following rail bridge attacks. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, citing discontent over the perceived exploitation of Balochistan's resources. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed justice for the perpetrators amid rising political and regional tensions.
