Suspected Cow Slayer Drowns While Fleeing from Police in Madhopur

A man suspected of being involved in illegal cow slaughter drowned in a pond while attempting to evade police arrest in the Madhopur area near Roorkee.
The incident, which occurred late Saturday night, was confirmed by Haridwar's Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal on Monday. The local Cattle Protection Squad was patrolling the area following a tip-off about illegal cow slaughter activities.
Upon seeing the patrol, Wasim alias Monu abandoned his scooter and fled, eventually leaping into a pond. Despite a search, his body was only recovered the following morning, leading to a confrontation with local residents who accused the police of foul play. A police case has been registered against multiple individuals, and authorities have vowed stern action to maintain peace.
