Balochistan Under Siege: Deadly Insurgent Attacks Sweep Province
Separatist militants launched coordinated attacks in Balochistan, Pakistan, targeting police stations, railway lines, and vehicles, resulting in at least 33 deaths. The assaults, claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, disrupted major infrastructure and targeted military and civilian personnel, sparking a condemnation from the Pakistani government.
Separatist militants executed a devastating wave of attacks across Balochistan, Pakistan, targeting police stations, railway lines, and highway vehicles. At least 33 people were killed in what officials describe as the most extensive assault by ethnic insurgents in years.
The deadliest attack occurred on a major highway, where militants attacked buses and trucks, killing at least 23 people and setting ten vehicles ablaze. A rail line between Pakistan and Iran and a key railway bridge linking Quetta to the rest of the country were blown up, severing a crucial transport route.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, saying they targeted military personnel in civilian clothes. Though Pakistani authorities described the victims as innocent citizens, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed that security forces would retaliate and bring perpetrators to justice.
