At least four additional murder cases have been lodged against Bangladesh's former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her ex-cabinet, recent media reports confirmed on Sunday.

A case was filed against the 76-year-old Hasina and 12 others, including the ex-director general of Border Guard Bangladesh, Gen Aziz Ahmed, over the 2010 death of Abdur Rahim, an official of the then Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), according to state-run BSS news agency.

Rahim, previously a deputy assistant director of BDR, was implicated in a case concerning the 2010 Pilkhana carnage and died in custody on July 29 of the same year. His son, Advocate Abdul Aziz, filed the latest complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Akteruzzaman.

Additionally, Hasina and 48 others have been charged in the killing of Shaikh Ashabul Yeamin, a student, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 18. His uncle, Abdullah-Al Kabir, filed the case, which was accepted by Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Saiful Islam's court, ordering police to convert the complaint into an FIR.

High-profile individuals named in these cases include Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, and former ministers Asaduzzaman Khan, Anisul Huq, and Tajul Islam. Another case was filed pertaining to the death of a Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) product seller during ongoing protests. Mamunur Rashid filed this complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain's court.

Sheikh Hasina, currently facing 53 cases including accusations of murder, crimes against humanity, and abduction, resigned and fled to India on August 5 amid escalating student protests over a controversial job quota system.

The fallout from her resignation saw over 230 deaths in violence, adding to the growing toll in the wake of the protest movement.
