The Kerala government announced on Saturday that the temporary rehabilitation process for the victims of landslides in Wayanad has been completed, with all surviving families moved to rented accommodations. The state confirmed that all 728 families from the relief camps were relocated by Saturday.

In a state government release, it was reported that a total of 2,569 people have been shifted to various government quarters and rented accommodations. The cabinet sub-committee, during a meeting with the media on Saturday, stated that a detailed memorandum has been submitted to the Union government seeking assistance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to the disaster-hit region, assured that the Centre would provide all possible help once the detailed memorandum is submitted. Revenue Minister K Rajan expressed hope that the Union government would consider their demands, emphasizing that state Disaster Management funds alone are insufficient. The district has started providing 'back to home' kits containing essential items to all the rehabilitated families.

Additionally, the state revealed that the Meppadi government school, where the relief camp was held, will resume operations from August 27. The landslides on July 30 had claimed over 200 lives, wiped out three villages, and left 119 people unaccounted for.
