Hundreds of people clad in traditional attire participated in a rally organized by the Diphupar Village Council (DVC) on Saturday to protest rampant taxation, extortion, kidnappings, and threats targeting citizens and local leaders.
The rally was a reaction to a recent incident where a Naga militant faction member threatened the council's youth president and a civilian at gunpoint. The individual, known for disturbing peace in the Diphupar area of Chumoukedima district, Nagaland, has been arrested by law enforcement.
Protesters, brandishing banners and placards, marched from the Airport Junction to the Agri Expo site, passing through Green Park Junction, covering around 3 km according to a DVC official. Leaders from various organizations condemned the act in their speeches and demanded lawful justice.
