Netanyahu argues that maintaining control of the corridor is crucial to preventing Hamas from smuggling weapons and fighters across the Egyptian border. He also emphasizes the importance of checkpoints in the Netzarim Corridor to thwart armed fighters from moving between the southern and northern sections of Gaza. Although Netanyahu agreed to a minor shift in position within the Philadelphi Corridor, he insists on retaining overall control.

Channel 12 reported Netanyahu's criticism of the negotiating team, led by Mossad chief David Barnea, for being too willing to make concessions. As the conflict, initiated by an October 7 Hamas-led attack, continues, Israel faces increasing pressure from the United States to end hostilities. Meanwhile, Netanyahu is under fire from the families of Israeli hostages in Gaza, but remains resolute, driven by support from hardliners in his cabinet and improving opinion polls.
