NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday condemned the state government for its handling of the Badlapur incident, where two kindergarten girls were allegedly sexually abused by a school attendant. He argued that the government has neglected its responsibility for women's safety.
Pawar joined a silent protest in Pune, alongside Baramati MP Supriya Sule and leaders from Shiv Sena UBT and Congress. He criticized the government's response, stating, 'The Badlapur incident has tarnished Maharashtra's reputation across the country.'
The alleged assault led to massive protests in Badlapur, involving roadblocks and clashes with police. The MVA called for a 'Maharashtra Bandh' rejected by the Bombay High Court. Meanwhile, the BJP staged a counter-protest alleging MVA's political motives.
