Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has sharply criticized the Maharashtra government, accusing it of siding with perpetrators of crimes against women instead of taking action against them. His remarks came during a rally where he addressed party workers, condemning the recent alleged sexual assault on two kindergarten girls in Badlapur.
The Bombay High Court has restrained political parties from proceeding with a bandh called by the opposition coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to protest the incident. Thackeray urged his supporters to initiate a signature campaign with the slogan 'Bahin Surakshit tar Ghar Surakshit' (home is safe if sisters are secure), which they plan to present to the court.
An attendant has been arrested for allegedly assaulting the two young girls, an incident that has sparked widespread protests in Badlapur. Despite the court's order to halt the bandh, Thackeray vowed that the movement's voice would not be suppressed.
