Shocking Arrests in Pune: PE Teacher and Seven Others Detained for Harassment

A physical education teacher and seven other individuals have been arrested in Pune for allegedly sexually harassing a 12-year-old girl at a private school, according to police reports released on Saturday.

The arrests followed a complaint lodged by the girl's parents at Nigdi police station, leading to the detention on Friday. Authorities revealed that the teacher, who had a prior conviction for molestation, was reinstated by the school after his release.

The complaint indicated that the teacher had been harassing the girl for two years, including inappropriate touching during PE classes and waiting outside the women's washroom. He also issued multiple threats. The accused are charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The school's principal, trustees, and board members were also among those arrested.
