Tragic Highway Incident: Two Elderly Women Shot Dead in Sonora

In a tragic event, two elderly women from Arizona were fatally shot in a vehicle along a highway in Mexico's northern Sonora state. Local prosecutors have identified the victims—Enedina, 72, and Ubaldina, 82—both of whom held dual U.S.-Mexican nationality.
The incident occurred on a notorious stretch of highway known for violence and migrant trafficking, from Sonoyta near the Arizona border to Caborca. The women were found in an overturned Nissan Pathfinder, while a stolen Ford F-150 and an AK-47 were discovered nearby.
Responding National Guard and army officers are involved in a comprehensive operation to apprehend the criminal group responsible. Security forces from three levels of government are actively participating in the search.
