U.S. President Joe Biden has pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw Israeli forces from Gaza's border with Egypt, in an effort to advance ceasefire negotiations, according to an Axios report on Friday.

In a Wednesday phone call, Netanyahu partially agreed to Biden's request, agreeing to reposition troops along a segment of the Egypt-Gaza border, as per information from three Israeli officials.

The move is seen as a critical step to enable ongoing talks aimed at achieving a ceasefire.
