A POCSO court in Rajasthan has sentenced a 26-year-old man to 20 years' imprisonment for the abduction and rape of a 17-year-old girl.
The verdict, initially scheduled for two months ago, was delayed due to the absence of the accused on the hearing date. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, and the man was apprehended, according to public prosecutor Rakesh Thakur.
The convict, identified as Koushal alias Koushal Raj Meena from Bishanpura village, committed the crime in December 2019. Authorities rescued the victim and arrested Koushal a month later; he was eventually released on bail but was convicted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
