A tragic incident unfolded at the AAVIN dairy unit in Tiruvallur district on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old contract employee.

The woman, who has been identified as Umarani, accidentally fell into the conveyor belt while working, leading to her immediate demise. Approximately 16 employees were present during the segregation of milk packets when the tragic accident occurred.

Authorities were promptly informed by her colleagues, and a formal complaint has been lodged with the local police. Following the incident, actions were taken against several company officials, including the night supervisor, deputy manager, and machinery supervisor, as per the official release from Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation. The Tiruvallur unit, which produces around 1 lakh liters of milk daily, employs about 31 individuals per day.
