Amardeep Singh Bhatia Takes Charge as Secretary of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade

Before this appointment, Shri Bhatia served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, also under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, IAS, has officially assumed the role of Secretary for the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He succeeds Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, who has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Defence.

Before this appointment, Shri Bhatia served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, also under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. A seasoned Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1993 batch of the Nagaland cadre, Shri Bhatia brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Throughout his career, Shri Bhatia has held several significant positions within the Central Government, including roles in the Ministries of Corporate Affairs and Health & Family Welfare. His extensive experience also extends to various key departments in the Nagaland State Government, where he has overseen Planning & Coordination, Health & Family Welfare, Environment & Forest, Municipalities and Local Self Government, and Home, among others.

Shri Bhatia's appointment is expected to further strengthen the DPIIT's initiatives to promote industrial growth and internal trade in India, contributing to the country’s economic development and the realization of key national objectives.
