The opposition Congress-led UDF on Wednesday unequivocally rejected Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's assertion that Justice Hema had requested her panel's report on the film industry remain unpublished, branding the claim as a 'blatant lie' and 'hypocrisy'.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan, addressing a press conference, disclosed that Justice Hema, who led the three-member panel, had never asked the government to withhold the report. He released a letter purportedly sent by Justice Hema to the government, contradicting the CM's statement.
Satheesan alleged the government has protected the 'hunters' for over four years since the panel submitted the report. He demanded that a team of women IPS officers investigate the case and called on CM Vijayan to apologize for his misleading claims. Street protests are anticipated if the government does not act upon the report's findings. Meanwhile, Mahila Congress workers marched to the DGP office for prompt action on the report's revelations.
