Law enforcement officials conducted a raid at internet personality Andrew Tate's residence near Bucharest on Wednesday, as confirmed by a Reuters witness. The operation is part of a broader investigation by Romanian police into charges of human trafficking and sexual offenses involving minors.

Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist and social media influencer, along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women, had been indicted in mid-2023 on counts of human trafficking, rape, and organizing a criminal gang for sexual exploitation, charges they have denied. Romania's anti-organized crime unit, DIICOT, reported carrying out four searches in Ilfov county and Bucharest municipality in connection with the case.

The investigation focuses on crimes including the formation of an organized criminal group, trafficking of minors and humans, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements, and money laundering. A Reuters photographer observed roughly a dozen masked officers entering Tate's property. Tate's representatives acknowledged the raid, stressing that their legal team is ensuring all procedures are correctly followed.
