Indore's district administration has taken stringent action by invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against Ritesh Rajput, who was arrested for publicly beating a 22-year-old tribal man and compelling him to tie his shoe laces, an official confirmed on Wednesday.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rishikesh Meena, Rajput, 28, from an area under the Bhawarkuan police station, assaulted the tribal man on August 18 due to a dispute over proper driving on the road. Following the police's recommendation, the district administration issued an arrest warrant under the NSA, which has been executed, ensuring Rajput will be jailed under this act.

The co-accused, Rohit Rathore, remains at large, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing. The tribal community expressed strong displeasure after CCTV footage of the incident was circulated on social media. Rajput, already facing around 10 criminal cases, violated a three-year restraining order issued against him in November 2023, leading to a separate case being registered for this violation.
