Israeli Strikes Hit Hezbollah Arms Depots Amid Tensions
The Israeli military bombed Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley amid escalating hostilities. The airstrikes, which resulted in casualties, are part of Israel's ongoing efforts to target arms depots used by the Iranian-backed militia. This conflict has raised fears of a broader Middle East confrontation.
The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it targeted Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley overnight. This airstrike is the latest in a series of attacks on arms depots belonging to the powerful Iranian-backed militia.
The conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli military, ongoing for the past 10 months, has primarily unfolded along Lebanon's volatile southern border with Israel. However, recent Israeli strikes have penetrated deeper into Lebanon, raising the stakes of a wider Middle East conflict.
Lebanese security sources reported that the strike occurred near Baalbek in a residential area populated mainly by Shi'ite Muslims. At least two people were killed and 19 injured, though it remains unclear if the casualties were civilians or fighters.
Since October, Israel has regularly bombed Hezbollah fighters and rocket launch sites, causing substantial casualties among Hezbollah combatants and civilians. The recent Israeli offensive includes strikes on arms depots in the region.
Saturday's airstrike reportedly killed ten Syrian nationals, including children. Another strike on Monday also targeted a Hezbollah weapons depot in the Bekaa region.
