Chhattisgarh Court Extends Judicial Remand for Congress MLA Devendra Yadav

A court in Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar-Bhatapara district on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of Congress MLA Devendra Yadav until August 27 in connection with the June 10 arson case.
Devendra Yadav, arrested on Saturday, appeared in court via video conferencing upon the expiration of his initial three-day remand. The opposition legislator is currently held in Raipur central jail.
Yadav was detained on August 17 at his Bhilai residence and transferred to Balodabazar for arrest. He faces multiple charges, including promoting enmity and criminal conspiracy, after a mob set fire to government property during a Satnami protest against vandalism on June 10. The Congress plans statewide demonstrations on August 24 protesting Yadav's arrest.
