Kolkata continues to witness protests over the RG Kar Hospital incident, fueled by demands for justice from political and non-political groups alike.
On Tuesday, the CBI intensified its investigation, interrogating a close acquaintance of the prime accused for the second day in a row to uncover the motive behind the crime.
Additionally, a Special Investigation Team set up by the West Bengal government is probing financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during the tenure of former principal Sandip Ghosh. An FIR has been filed, and information has been gathered from a whistleblower.
Hundreds of IT professionals protested in Salt Lake's Sector V, holding candles and mobile torches, while rallies erupted in other parts of the city. The police employed mild force to manage an ABVP protest near the West Bengal health department headquarters, resulting in more than 20 arrests.
State and national political figures, including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, have criticized the state government for its handling of the situation. The governor assured the victim's family of justice and support.
