Senior Congress MLA Advocates for Journalists' Welfare in Assembly

Senior Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati raised several issues faced by journalists in the assembly, urging the BJP government to continue the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana and increase the coverage to Rs 20 lakh. He also called for reallowing authorized journalists in the assembly lobby.

Senior Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati addressed the assembly on Tuesday, spotlighting multiple challenges journalists encounter.

He pressed the BJP administration to sustain the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana for working journalists, a scheme initiated by the previous government, and proposed increasing its yearly coverage from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

Bahinipati additionally called for the reinstatement of access for authorized journalists to the assembly lobby, a practice halted during the pandemic. Various journalists' organizations have also presented these demands to the new Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi.
