Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday denounced the lateral entry into bureaucracy, describing it as a direct assault on social justice. He argued that it deprived deserving meritorious and minority officers from reserved categories of their rightful opportunities.
Stalin urged the Central government to halt this practice and instead focus on filling backlog vacancies for OBCs and SC/STs, ensuring fair and equitable promotions. He further called for the complete abolition of the creamy layer concept, which his party, DMK, has consistently opposed.
In a post on 'X', Stalin emphasized the need for a nationwide caste census to ensure equitable distribution of educational and job opportunities to all backward and oppressed sections of society. His comments came following a UPSC notification to recruit 45 officers through lateral entry.
