Rescue teams in Sicily are gearing up to continue their search for six missing people, including British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter, after a violent storm sank a luxury yacht on Monday, resulting in one fatality.
The British-flagged sailboat 'Bayesian,' measuring 56 meters in length, was anchored near Porticello when it was struck by severe weather. Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and Chris Morvillo, a lawyer for Lynch in a long-standing U.S. trial, are among those unaccounted for.
According to Salvatore Cocina, head of Civil Protection in Sicily, the wives of both men are also missing. While 15 people, including Lynch's wife Angela Bacares and a one-year-old girl, escaped, specialist divers faced difficulties accessing the submerged yacht due to obstructive debris. On Monday, rescue teams retrieved the body of the yacht's chef, identified as Antiguan citizen Ricardo Thomas.
