More than 121,000 people have been evacuated from nine border districts in Russia's Kursk region, the Emergencies Ministry said on Monday, according to the state-run TASS news agency.

Russian forces have been in active combat with Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region since August 6. This followed a major incident wherein thousands of Kyiv's soldiers breached Russia's western border, marking a significant and humiliating setback for the Russian military's top brass.

The evacuation efforts underline the severity and escalating nature of the conflict.
