Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has moved to the High Court with a writ petition against an order by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, which grants sanction for an investigation into alleged irregularities in the allotment of alternative sites by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

Siddaramaiah argues that the sanction order was issued without due consideration and in violation of statutory mandates and constitutional principles, including the advice of the Council of Ministers, which should be binding under Article 163 of the Indian Constitution.

He specifically challenges the August 16 order that granted approval under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, describing it as legally unsustainable and procedurally flawed.
