A tragedy unfolded in the Kasara Ghat section when a speeding milk tanker crashed into an iron barrier before plunging 200 feet into a gorge, resulting in five deaths. This horrifying incident was confirmed by a Thane rural police official on Monday.

The accident occurred at 3pm on Sunday. The driver of the tanker, who is now deceased, has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, stated Shahapur SDPO Milind Shinde.

A group of nine individuals, who had taken a lift in the tanker to Mumbai, were involved in the accident. Among them, four people, including a 5-year-old boy, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a Goti hospital.
