In a heart-wrenching tragedy, two nine-year-old boys drowned in a pit in Maharashtra's Gondia district, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Alok Bhagchand Bisen and Prince Kishore Rahangdale, both Class 3 students, lost their lives in Dasgaon village while returning home from school on Tuesday. Bisen accidentally fell into a roadside water-filled pit while trying to relieve himself, and Rahangdale, in an attempt to save his friend, also drowned.
A third friend, too shocked to speak, went home silently, leaving families and locals to discover the boys' bodies during a frantic evening search. Authorities handed the bodies over to their respective families after a post-mortem examination, according to a Rawanvadi police station official.
