Five Naxalites Arrested in Chhattisgarh; Explosives Recovered

Five Naxalites, including a high-profile cadre with a Rs 5 lakh bounty, were apprehended in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, according to police reports on Tuesday.

The arrests were made during a joint anti-Naxal operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), the CRPF's 165th battalion, and local police near Chikometta village in the Jagargunda area on Monday, police officials stated.

Among those arrested was Uika Chaitu, a 30-year-old from Jagargunda, who served as an area committee member of Maoists in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli. The seized contraband included six gelatin rods, detonators, gunpowder, a barrel grenade launcher shell, cordex wire, and batteries, all intended for use against security personnel on patrol.
