Putin and Abbas Deliberate on Middle East Crisis in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet in Moscow to discuss the escalating conflicts in the Middle East, especially the Palestinian-Israeli situation and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Abbas is on a visit to Russia before heading to Turkey for further talks.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Moscow on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Kremlin late Monday. The discussions aim to address the escalating conflict in the Middle East, particularly focusing on the Palestinian-Israeli tensions and the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
Abbas is on a long-anticipated visit to Russia until Wednesday, after which he plans to travel to Turkey for a meeting with President Tayyip Erdogan. Russia, which maintains strong ties with both Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and various Arab leaders like Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has condemned the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. The Kremlin has urged all involved to avoid further destabilization in the region.
Additionally, Russia has consistently criticized Western nations for ignoring the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state within the borders established in 1967.
