Brinda Karat Alleges Tribal Land 'Looting' in Jharkhand Santal Pargana

Senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat has accused domestic and foreign companies of exploiting mineral reserves and 'looting' tribal lands in Jharkhand’s Santal Pargana region. Speaking at a convention in Dumka, she criticized the violation of the Santal Pargana Tenancy Act and alleged negligence towards labor rights and environmental consequences.

Senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat on Sunday alleged that domestic and foreign companies, in collaboration with local brokers, are exploiting mineral reserves and 'looting' tribal land in Jharkhand's Santal Pargana region.

Addressing a convention in Dumka, Karat highlighted the violation of the Santal Pargana Tenancy Act, which was enacted to protect tribal lands. She also noted that Gram Sabhas were being ignored in the process.

Karat criticized the Modi administration for allocating coal blocks through auctions to both government and private sectors. She pointed out that local brokers had created a climate of fear, preventing tribals near the Pachuada coal block from voicing their concerns.
