Assam on High Alert at India-Bangladesh Border Amid Unrest

Acting on a directive from the Centre, security forces are ensuring that only Indian passport holders with valid documents are allowed entry. Citizens of Bangladesh found crossing illegally will be escorted back through a safe corridor after verification.

As Independence Day approaches, additional security measures are being enforced across Assam. In light of recent reports of ULFA (I) militants in Upper Assam, coordinated efforts with the army, CRPF, and Assam Rifles are being strengthened.
