Security forces clashed with terrorists in a remote forest in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, early Sunday. Officials reported that the confrontation was brief, occurring during a search operation launched by police along with army and paramilitary forces in Nownatta, Naageni Peyaas, and adjacent areas.
The security forces initiated the operation based on intelligence about terrorist movements in the region. Following the initial exchange of gunfire, reinforcements were dispatched, and the hunt for the terrorists continues. The encounter underscores the ongoing tension in the region.
The latest clash comes just a day after two army personnel, Havaldar Dipak Kumar Yadav and Lance Naik Praveen Sharma, were killed, and six others, including two civilians, were injured during a fierce gunfight in Kokernag woods, located in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
