A 23-year-old man named Manish Pandey was arrested in East Delhi's Shahdara area for possessing seven reels of illegal metal-coated manjha, commonly known as Chinese manjha, police officials confirmed on Saturday.

The use and sale of Chinese manjha are banned in Delhi due to the injuries it inflicts on birds and bike-riders. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), Surendra Choudhary, a police trap was laid in Geeta Colony based on a tip-off about the illegal activity.

The accused was intercepted while riding a scooty, and the prohibited manjha was found in his possession. Upon interrogation, Pandey revealed he had procured the manjha from Red Fort market the previous year and intended to sell it to kite enthusiasts. An FIR has been filed under the Environment Protection Act, and further investigations are in progress.
